BRITISH OLYMPIC ASSOCIATION: A Champion Celebration with Team GB

Action: Delivering an event worthy of Team GB’s Olympic heroes

To celebrate Team GB’s success at the Rio 2016 Olympics, we were tasked with delivering an annual Team GB Ball worthy of our homecoming heroes. Not only did we have to create the ultimate celebration for the Olympic athletes, but we also had to ensure that this was a successful fundraiser for the British Olympic Association.

Create: Managing a Rio-inspired brand experience from production to talent management

We managed the entire event, from production and door sales to athlete management, talent, and entertainment. We secured Battersea Evolution as the event venue and worked with the production company, Smart, to create a Rio-inspired night as a perfect tie into the Olympics. We created a bespoke online guest management system to manage all the table sales and guest management pre-event.

Claudia Winkleman and Tom Daley were contracted to host the prestigious event, along with Gary Barlow to entertain the guests. Auctioneer Jonny Gould ran a live auction on the night, further increasing the amount of money donated to the British Olympic Association at the event.

Impact: Creating a buzz for the Team GB Ball

800 guests and athletes attended the event with incredible feedback from all, including Annie Scott from the British Olympic Association who said, “Thank you all for living the event, for your time, commitment and for believing in it with us – I’m proud to say it would rate up there with the best I have ever run.”

The BBC created a one-off programme focusing on the event that was shown on BBC2 and iPlayer. The was covered by a number of publications, including The Sun, Mail Online and Evening Standard.
